Words about me

Hi I’m Kevein Orrman-Rossiter. I grew up dreaming of becoming an astronaut.  Imagine my horror that I needed to become an American or USSR citizen - for a six year old that seemed such a huge leap! Fortunately my curiosity was supercharged by adventures with my telescope, chemistry set, geologist’s pick and an endless supply of books. So I studyied Physics at University both in Australia and the UK.  Along the way I earned undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, including a PhD, in Physics.  My interests ‘matured’ into becoming a professional scientist with a fascination into the properties of surfaces, modern materials (bio and nano), particle accelerators and understanding the mind.  I returned to Australia as a Queen Elizabeth II Fellow and afterwards took on the challenges of R&D in a commercial environment, including that of communicating the benefits of technology to the hard-nosed business community. Since then I have spent many fruitful years in business & commerce.

Some years ago I became dismayed and angered at, what I perceived was, the poor quality debate and discussion about many subjects, in particular science and technology and their role in society within Australia (as well as other countries). Rather than shake my head and mumble disconsolately about this deplorable this state-of-affairs I decided that I should attempt to change it - enter the fray.  Firstly enrolling in a philosophy degree to help get my own thoughts clear and to challenge my own beliefs. This is the next stage; it is linked to my main blog: http://lucidthoughts.com.au where I expand on some of the important ideas which may have been presented here, writing in an attempt to make complex subject more accessible.  I trust you find this both interesting and challenging, I welcome both comments and commissions.
